Conclusion of the 64th Session of the Commission for Social Development at the United Nations with Active Participation from AMHRI’s Team .

The 64th Session of the Commission for Social Development, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 2 to 10 February 2026, concluded today with active participation from the team of the Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and Immigration (AMHRI), in the framework of its consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

AMHRI’s team participated in most of the session’s meetings by submitting written reports and delivering interventions that focused on the relationship between armed conflicts and social collapse. Particular attention was given to the situation in Yemen as a stark example of the erosion of social development due to the expansion of ongoing regional and domestic conflict, the weakening of state institutions as a result of the Houthi coup against them, the breakdown of social protection systems, and the widening of multidimensional poverty.

Throughout its participation, the Association linked the rapidly evolving developments in Yemen to the session’s agenda items on social protection, youth empowerment, poverty eradication, and social justice. It emphasized that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in conflict-affected countries—foremost among them Yemen—requires addressing the root causes of conflict, ensuring comprehensive international accountability for all parties to the conflict without selectivity, and integrating development pathways with peace and human rights.

At the conclusion of the session, the Association called upon Member States and the United Nations to adopt comprehensive approaches that give genuine priority to fragile states and prevent affected populations from being left outside the path of justice and development.

اختتمت اليوم أعمال الدورة الرابعة والستين للجنة التنمية الاجتماعية، المنعقدة بمقر الأمم المتحدة في نيويورك خلال الفترة من 2 إلى 10 فبراير 2026، بمشاركة فاعلة من فريق رابطة معونه وذلك في إطار دورها الاستشاري لدى المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي للأمم المتحدة (ECOSOC).

وشارك فريق الرابطة في اغلب جلسات الدورة 64 من خلال تقديم تقارير كتابية وإحاطات ركزت على العلاقة بين النزاعات المسلحة والانهيار الاجتماعي، مع تسليط الضوء على الوضع في اليمن بوصفه نموذجًا صارخًا لتقويض التنمية الاجتماعية بفعل توسع الصراع الإقليمي والمحلي المستمر، وتآكل مؤسسات الدولة بفعل الانقلاب الحوثي عليها ، وانهيار أنظمة الحماية الاجتماعية، واتساع الفقر متعدد الأبعاد.

وربطت الرابطة في مجمل مشاركاتها بين التطورات المتسارعة في اليمن وبنود جدول أعمال الدورة المتعلقة بالحماية الاجتماعية، وتمكين الشباب، ومكافحة الفقر، والعدالة الاجتماعية، مؤكدة أن تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة في الدول المتأثرة بالنزاعات وفي مقدمتها اليمن يتطلب معالجة جذور الصراع، وضمان المساءلة الدولية الشاملة لكل اطراف الصراع دون انتقائية ، وربط مسارات التنمية بالسلام وحقوق الإنسان.

وفي ختام الدورة، دعت الرابطة الدول الأعضاء والأمم المتحدة إلى تبني مقاربات شاملة تعطي أولوية حقيقية للدول الهشة، وتمنع ترك الشعوب المتضررة خارج مسار العدالة والتنمية .
