I grew up as a first-generation American on Long Island, New York. September 11th was a deeply traumatic event for my family. It was one of America’s darkest days.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, we saw the very best of our country respond.
I have the honor of visiting the September 11 Memorial in New York to pay tribute to all those who defended America in its darkest hour. This includes the very large number of FBI agents, first responders, and service members who have passed away in the years since from illnesses related to September 11th, an agency I am proud to lead. Their sacrifice—and the sacrifice of all our law enforcement, first responders, and military personnel who gave their lives—will never be forgotten.
Let any law enforcement agency that chooses not to honor the brave lives lost that day know that you will find no friend in me, and you will find no friend in the FBI.
