HWPL New York Hosts Interfaith Event Promoting Peace, Harmony and Healing

New York – Homemad News – – HWPL
On August 16th, the New York Branch of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) hosted its Religious Peace Academy in Manhattan. Under the theme, “Healing Deep Divides,” the event sought to unite diverse faith leaders and provide a platform promoting solidarity, mutual learning and understanding.
HWPL’s Religious Peace Academy took place in Baruch College’s Engelman Recital Hall and had over 120 participants. The initiative was rooted in United Nations sustainable development goal 16 – regarding peace, justice, and strong institutions – and supports HWPL’s mission to advance interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence through dialogue, education, and community-driven efforts.
The event included lectures from five prominent speakers representing Jainism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism and the teachings of the spiritual movement, Brahma Kumaris. In each of their presentations, the guest speakers discussed ways in which the followers of their religion can live according to their own scriptural teachings on peace.
HWPL’s Religious Peace Academy also featured vibrant cultural performances, including a soloist and a traditional Korean fan dance. Participants, including each of the speakers, signed a peace pledge committing to work with HWPL and work as peacemakers within their own communities.
A highlight of the event was acknowledging the certificate of recognition that HWPL had received from the New York City Mayor’s Office. The certificate reads: “On the occasion of the HWPL Religious Peace Academy’s Healing Deep Divides Event. Communities of faith are essential threads in the rich cultural tapestry that unites and sustains New Yorkers, and they remind us of our responsibility to uplift one another every day. HWPL works to foster peace around the world through educational initiatives, forums, and monthly interfaith dialogues. My administration is dedicated to ensuring that people of all beliefs and cultures feel safe and welcome in our city, and HWPL is a valuable ally in this mission. Together, we will continue to forge a brighter, more harmonious future for all.”
