PRESS STATEMENT :
AMHRI Condemns Houthi Missile and Drone Attack on Aden International Airport and Warns of Risks to Civilians and Civil Aviation
YEMEN 7 October 2026
The Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and Immigration (AMHRI) condemns the Houthi attack targeting Aden International Airport in the early hours of today, amid the renewed military escalation in Yemen. According to the Media Office of the Aden Capital Security Administration, Reuters reported that two missiles launched by the Houthi group targeted the airport without causing any casualties. Subsequent reports also referred to the use of missiles and drones amid escalating attacks against airports and civilian infrastructure in Yemen and the wider region.
AMHRI stresses that Aden International Airport is a major civilian facility and a vital gateway for passengers and humanitarian flights. The use of ballistic missiles or drones to target the airport poses a grave threat to civilians, airport personnel and civil aviation, while also exacerbating the isolation of the population and threatening the movement of essential supplies and humanitarian assistance.
AMHRI calls on the Houthi group to immediately cease all attacks against airports, civilian infrastructure and cities, and to strictly comply with the principles of distinction, proportionality and precautions under international humanitarian law. The Association further calls for an independent and transparent investigation into the attack and for the preservation of missile and drone remnants, radar data, flight-path information, and all relevant digital and technical evidence.
AMHRI warns that the attack on Aden International Airport comes at a time of rapidly escalating hostilities, including fighting around Bab al-Mandab and Taiz and an increase in cross-border attacks. These developments heighten the risk that the conflict in Yemen could evolve into a broader regional confrontation, with serious consequences for civilians, human security and freedom of navigation.
The Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and Immigration renews its call for the establishment of an independent, impartial and comprehensive international mechanism to investigate violations committed by all parties to the conflict in Yemen, without exception or selectivity, preserve evidence, ensure accountability, and provide justice and redress for victims.
