On May 28, 2025, the New York Branch of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of
Light, commemorated the 12th Anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace and Peace
Walk. The main event took place at the United Nations Church Center Chapel under the
theme, “Building Bridges for Peace and Interreligious Harmony.”
The purpose of the event was to highlight the role of UN sustainable development goals 16
and 17 in achieving sustainable and inclusive peace. The commemoration also sought to
promote interreligious harmony and mutual understanding as foundations for peace and to
foster partnerships for collaborative peacebuilding.
The event was co-hosted by five organizations: Save the People, United Sikhs, Ananda
Marga, An-Noor Cultural Center, and Shree Ganesh Mandir. At the end of the main event,
all five organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HWPL with the
heart to work together to promote peace and achieve their shared goals and objectives.
“Upon reviewing and looking at what HWPL stands for, we commend you highly and we
appreciate you having us be a part and we willingly signed the MOU because we support
from a Hinduism perspective world peace against interreligious faith from different
backgrounds and spiritual settings,” said Pandit and Head Spiritual Advisor Yogeshwar
Narine from Shree Ganesh Mandir.
The main event and MOU signing ceremony were followed by a peace walk at the Dag
Hammarskjöld Plaza located across from the United Nations. Despite the rain,
representatives of the organizations co-hosting the event and other notable religious and
community leaders took part in the symbolic walk highlighting the need to continue taking
steps to achieve sustainable peace.
“HWPL has an impact not only [in the] United States but the entire whole world and I’m very
happy to see, that is, the effort that has been made in order to bring the peace and the
emotion and to touch the emotion of each and every heart and soul,

Abhiramananda Avadhuta, sectorial secretary of the New York sector of Ananda Marga.
